How To Keep Children Safe From Fire?

Learning about fire safety can help your child know how to protect themselves in the event of a fire.

Involve them– It’s never too early to teach fire safety habits to the young members of your family. Include the kids when you plan out and practice your fire escape plan.

“Don’t play with fire!” - Do not let your keiki (children) play with matches, lighters or candles and be sure to keep these items high up and away from the younger kids.

Don’t open a hot doorknob - Inform children that if a doorknob is hot, they should NOT open the door.

Demonstrate - Show them how to crawl on their hands and knees if they see smoke.

Keep children 3 feet away from anything that can get hot. These include stove-tops, heaters or anything that gets hot.
